The Sexuality and Gender Diversity Faculty Staff Council, an Enlightened collection of characters located at the University of Kansas, wrote a letter to the school’s chancellor demanding the removal of a “bastion of bigotry” from the KU campus. Had an outpost of the KKK set up shop on the lawn? Had a communist club begun meeting in the basement? No. Worse.

Chick-fil-a is selling their chicken sandwiches to paying customers—right in the middle of the student union. The horror! With every sandwich, every waffle fry, every little nugget consumed, the student body subconsciously slouches towards religious fundamentalism and a puritanical, prudish sexuality. Behold, the potent power of peanut oil!

KU’s diversity council claims to promote “diversity, equity, and inclusion” on campus. But their frantic calls to oust Chick-fil-a show that these buzzwords have been weaponized to create a tyrannical and stifling uniformity. No company with even a remote connection to traditional Christian morality can be allowed in their general vicinity.

University campuses are increasingly forgoing any attempt to be a space for reasoned debate between those with a variety of views. Instead, we’re sending our kids off for a 4-year stay on an island of secular orthodoxy, vigorously monitored by the progressive thought police.

Prayer

God, we ask that you would protect Christian businesses from intimidation and persecution, both through legal protections and a culture of freedom. In the meantime, we ask that you would help Chick-fil-a and other Christian-owned businesses to suffer reproach well, continuing to pursue kindness and excellence in their work. Remind us all that in this life we will have trouble and will face opposition, but this light momentary affliction is working for us an eternal weight of glory.
